…treasure every moment you have and remember that time waits for no one. Happiness is a journey not a destination...

Throughout the years, as Executive Director of The Learning Exchange, I have worked toward improving the services and standards of literacy provision to TLE's members. I have watched this organization grow from a small one-room office to the resource center it is today. With the support of wonderful volunteers, Board members and a hardworking, dedicated staff, we have all worked together to ensure appropriate and quality service to all of our members and most importantly to our students, by keeping pace with the trends and policies that affect literacy and the literacy population. In addition, we've formed new partnerships, gained a stronger voice in the community and sensitized the public to the issues of literacy.

The optimist sees the rose and not the thorns; the pessimist stares at the thorns, oblivious of the rose. I see myself as an optimist.

The path to our destination is not always a straight one. We go down the wrong road, we get lost, we turn back. Maybe it doesn’t matter which road we embark on. Maybe what matters is that we embark.
~Barbara Hall

In the summer of ’97 during a casual conversation with a friend, she talked about her job which sounded very interesting. She mentioned that she was looking for a volunteer to help reorganize the center. With time on my hands, I offered to help and ever since that time have been involved with this wonderful organization.
