For over 60 years, November 20 has been the Universal Children’s Day. The Early Childhood Week is a celebration of the Universal Children’s Day. It is an opportunity to communicate and establish à dialogue on the well-being and development of babies, to highlight local, regional and national initiatives that support early childhood and to mobilize our society as a whole.

About Early Childhood Week

Early Childhood Week aims to give a voice to the 530,000 children aged 0 to 5 in Quebec in order to make early childhood development a true social priority.

November 15 to 21, 2020, Early Childhood Week, now in its fifth year, is an opportunity for us as a society to stop for a moment, take a closer look at the youngest members of our community and think about what we can do, together, to help each and every one of them get the best possible start in life. Let’s make the most of this week to inspire and inform a conversation about early childhood development in Quebec, from the womb through to preschool, as we shine the spotlight on local and regional support initiatives, and engage community groups, the business world, elected officials and society as a whole.

This year’s Early Childhood Week is being organized by the Collectif petite enfance, a Quebec-wide organization that brings together a broad array of stakeholders to embrace a common cause: making early childhood development a priority for all Quebecers.

The week will be a backdrop for numerous activities and events throughout the province. Be sure to check back and find out more!

Main Objective

Build a Quebec that provides every child, from before birth onward, with the means to realize their full potential.

  • Provide information about health and well-being in early childhood.
  • Raise awareness at every level of society about the benefits and outcomes of taking collective action in the early years of a child’s life.
  • Engage people at every level of society and emphasize the importance of early intervention.
  • Shine the spotlight on achievements by various stakeholders in nurturing the development of babies and toddlers.
