Volunteer Positions

Our volunteers play a vital role at The Learning Exchange. TLE volunteers are part of a team of dedicated staff and volunteers working to further the organization in its vision, mission, and mandate. Numerous volunteer opportunities are available throughout the year on a regular or occasional basis.

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION
The one-on-one tutor plays a pivotal role at The Learning Exchange working one-on-one with a student at a designated location to help an English-speaking adult (16+) achieve his or her learning goals through the development of the essential skills, study skills, reading, writing, numeracy and other life skills.

The small group tutor works simultaneously with a few students in need of the same tutoring at a designated location to help English-speaking adults (16+) achieve their learning goals through the development of the essential skills, study skills, reading, writing, numeracy and other life skills.

The class tutor works to help English-speaking adults (16+) achieve their learning goals by working with the classroom teacher or educational professional to benefit the student in his/her academic school life.

A virtual volunteer performs a volunteer job/task off site through use of the Internet (i.e. social media volunteer).

Join TLE’s family literacy team! We need volunteers to visit elementary schools in the Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board area to read interactive stories with children in the daytime. We also need volunteers for Story Time events in the evenings. These events take place a few times a year and are a fun and rewarding experience for all involved!!
